Specifics about the Twitter Workshop on June 13, 2013

InWomen Twitter Workshop*

We will meet at 6:00PM (18:00) in the Fox Grill which is an outdoor patio bar & grill that faces onto the marina at the back of the hotel.

Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel
1 Park Boulevard
San Diego, California 92101

In this 60-minute pre-dinner workshop, we will experience some of the ways to use Twitter to engage with one another; gather, disseminate, and expand information; report on conferences; network with other clinicians and researchers; and advocate for substance-using women and their children.

Because most of us have not used Twitter, this hands-on workshop will define Twitter terms and explain the nuts and bolts of Twitter use.  By the end of the workshop, each participant will have set up his or her own Twitter account and sent her or his first twitter message.  In addition, we will send “live tweets,” embed shortened links into messages, and engage in a live Twitter chat.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss the benefits of Twitter for the InWomen’s community
  2. Define Twitter terms (e.g., tweet, hashtag, chat)
  3. Set up a Twitter account and send a Twitter message (tweet)
  4. Live tweet from the workshop, using #inwo13
  5. Embed a shortened link into a tweet
  6. Engage in a live Twitter chat

*Please bring: a laptop or tablet computer with wireless and/or 3G connectivity (if not available, a smartphone may do)

For those interested in setting up a Twitter account prior to the workshop, “Getting Started with Twitter” provides an easy, step-by-step guide:
